Neil Young可谓是民谣音乐的常青树，有人甚至认为他比Bob Dylan还要优秀，我本人不能同意这种观点，但可以看出他确实很有声望。
专辑制作前夕，Nei Young刚刚炒掉了自己当时的乐队Crazy Horse（在他漫长的音乐生涯中炒掉了无数乐队，只要有他加入的乐队立刻出名），孤身一人抱起吉他钻进了地下室。等到出来的时候，他已经写成了一系列的伤感情歌，于是有了这张唱片。
这张专辑在滚石杂志评出的历代500张最强专辑中排名第71位，专辑首发于1970年，1990年再度发行。
